Orange juice is one of the worst things that you can give a child that has a cold.
Bacteria feed off of Sugar and Fruit juice is loaded with sugar !!
The best thing to give someone who is sick is High Protein.
Your immune system is made up of proteins, so it would make sense to up the protein intake during this time.
Organic Whole eggs, chicken soup made with bones and Whey Protein are all excellent sources of Protein.
I would also take 1000 mg of Vitamin C and 2000 IU of Vitamin D (for adults)
300 mg Vitamin C & 500 IU Vitamin D (for children)
I would also add spices to my foods like cayenne pepper, oregano, turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon.
Eat Raw garlic & onions.
Drink freshly squeezed lemon & lime juice
Take probiotics before bed time when stomach acid is at it's lowest. (make sure to have stopped eating 2 hours before taking the probiotics)
Get Plenty of Rest !!
