Ultrasound Superior To Mammography For Cancer Detection

A Recent Study conducted by the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance found that Ultrasound imaging is a superior screening tool than Mammography.

In fact the sensitivity rate in cancer detection is remarkably higher in Ultrasounds than Mammograms. Ultrasounds sensitivity was 95.7 percent while mammograms were 60.9 percent.

The findings were  published in the Oct. 22 issue of the American Journal of Roentgenology.

This is good news since numerous studies have shown that mammograms pose an increased risk to women in developing breast tumors.
